SUFI SHRINE: A COMMERCIAL CENTRE

Sufism is the essential part of Islam religion. Sufi saints followed Islamic ideology in their life. After the death of sufi saints the shrines had been erected on their tomb. Their tomb is being visited by the pilgrimages. There are so many sufi shrines in India. Bengal is not out of this . Many sufi saints came in Bengal in Medieval period. In Malda there are two most famous sufi shrines – one is the shrine of Osman Sirajuddin Ankhi and other is the shrine of Alaul Haq Pandawi. Now a day these sufi shrines become a commercial point. This paper is based an attempt to evaluate the business activities of sufi shrines in the district.
