Abstract

The artcle entitled  “Dalit literature and Social Injustice: Unveiling the Injustices Faced by Dalits in Joothan: An Untouchable’s Life” alludes to the social injustice faced by the dalit communities. One remarkable work in this genre is Joothan written by Omprakash Valmiki, a prominent Dalit writer. Omprakash Valmiki was a Indian poet and considered as a milestone in Dalit literature. Through this autobiographical account, Valmiki unveils the painful experiences of caste based discrimination and social inequality faced by dalits in India. This article explores the significance of Joothan in shedding light on Dalit struggles and advocating for social justice. This article also aims to explore the significance of Dalit literature in uncovering the atrocities faced by Dalits and how it plays a pivotal role in raising awareness, promoting empathy and demanding society change.
