Abstract

Ayurveda is the oldest known and surviving health science as complete medical system and lifestyle directing technique in the world. Asava and Arishtas are commonly used by Ayurveda consultants in day to day clinical practice.  Asava and Arishta are unique dosage form having long shelf life; discovered by ancient experts of Ayurveda.  Abhayarishta which is prepared by fermenting the decoction of specified plant Abhaya i.e. Haritaki; is an important ayurvedic formulation used to relieve the problems like piles and constipation, helpful in mild ascites and dropsy, relieve in urinary obstruction, increase digestive power and is helpful in enlargement of liver, spleen and anemia.

This multidimensional Kalpa has different contexts in different references. If each reference is studied and understood well, it can give assured results in wide spectrum of diseases. While using this Kalpa in our clinical practice, we have noticed the interesting calculative affirmations of results. This article is an effort to sum up all these things to create a pathway for well-guided use of Abhayarishta.
