A CRITICAL REVIEW ON VATA DOSHA AND ITS APPLIED ASPECT

Our human body is consists of dosha, dhatu and mala. One which vitiates to Dhatu , Mala is called Dosha. There are three types of Dosha. 1)Vata 2)Pitta 3)Kapha. Doshas are present all over the body, but each dosha is having its specific site. The functions of the particular dosha is predominantly found in specific site. This aspect is useful in treatment of specific dosha. Vata dosha sthana is below nabhi. Pakvashaya is the main sthana of Vata dosha. Vata dosha is considered as most important because of its unique properties and diverse functions throughout the body. Vata dosha in its aggravated condition produces maximum number of diseases but in its normal condition it helps to maintain homeostasis of human body and acts as the most essential factor for sustenance of life .In vataja vikar Basti treatment is given through anal region by which dosha nirharan takes place from pakvashaya. Understanding characteristics of vata dosha in this article focused on relation between vata dosha and vay, Circadian rhythm of vata dosha on the basis of season, kalkruta gati of vata dosha, prakrut and vikrut gati of vata dosha ,Circadian rhythm of tridosha on the basis of day and night, relation between ras and vata dosha , vata dosha and dushya, vata dosha guna, functions of vata, importance of pakvashaya for treatment aspect. The preventive aspect to avoid vruddhi of dosha plays vital role in healthy individuals. In this regard, detailed information on vata dosha was collected from publications, electronic media and text books and was critically analysed for its applied aspects.
