A SINGLE CASE STUDY ON EFFECTS OF RAKTAMOKSHANA(SIRAVEDHA) IN VARICOSE VEINS

Varicose veins are enlarged and twisted veins that often occur due to defected valves in the veins, primarily affecting the lower limbs. The presence of varicose veins was documented as early as 1500 bc. In the 1600s ad, they were associated with factors such as trauma, childbearing, and prolonged standing in front of royalty.
It is more commonly seen in females and have a hereditary component. Certain risk factors include smoking, chronic constipation, and occupations that involve prolonged periods of standing.complication such as superficial thrombophlebitis, eczema, pigmentation, lipodermatosclerosis, hemorrhage, ulceration and an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis. They affect about 10 - 20 % of the world population. Although varicose veins do not Pose a life-threatening risk and rarely cause disability.
This is a single case study of a 53 years old male patient with enlarged and varicose veins in both lower extremities since 5 years.patient had taken oral medications without any significant relief.thus he consulted for alternative treatment.
Siravedha is a bloodletting procedure commonly used in ayurveda for treating varicose veins. It has been observed to have various effects on varicose vein patients, ranging from blood hemodynamics to their overall quality of life.this case aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the effects of siravedha on varicose veins.VCSS (venous clinical severity score) and OSCE(Objective setting clinical examination)guidelines were used for the assessment of relief in pain during and after the treatment.
